The exhibition "Still Winter" takes the viewer into an unknown realm.
It delineates a territory where one can discover different states of mind and consciousness.
Tchetchick's forest is nourished by and reflects emotional processes; it induces a sense of both safety and danger in equal magnitude. The images depict a place and time where all the information is given and revealed, and yet the truth keeps eluding us, tantalizing, liquefying and changing.
The images speak in two languages simultaneously dividing the portrayed scene into two layers – an abstract and obscure background, merging with a lucid figurative front.
Tchetchik's forest remains mystic and mysterious: "I know not how the forests drone", (Yosef Netzer). The forest and its drone remain a riddle and becomes a labyrinth that engulfs safety and apprehension, refuge and exile. |
